Lynn Swanson
Lynn Swanson grew up in Northern Virginia, moved to northern California for five years as a newlywed, and has lived in Raleigh since 1984. While at home raising two children, she developed a love for gardening and became active in her neighborhood garden club. As her two girls grew, she took a job at a nearby garden center. Her favorite task was helping customers who wanted to renovate or redesign part of their yard. She especially enjoyed sketching ideas for them or taking them to “play in the plants” to see what plant combinations would be pleasing and suit their needs. In time she pursued the North Carolina Certified Plant Professional designation and hung out her shingle as a landscape designer.
Now retired, Lynn still enjoys getting her hands dirty in her woodland garden and maintaining the Japanese maple collection she enjoys with her husband Jim. She also stays busy with grandchildren, volunteering at Joslin Garden with a team from Gardeners of Wake County, and volunteering at the Raulston Arboretum.
