The Club has planted more than 27 trees in the last 10 years in Raleigh Parks to honor our departed members. This is a grove of 6 Fringe trees planted in Glen Eden Parks.
Another big project of the 1970's was landscaping the Raleigh Rescue mission.
The club planted 40 Dawn Redwoods in Pullen Park to commemorate the Bicentennial. They were planted on “Liberty Hill”… but 40 years means a lot of change in Raleigh! No one in the Park had heard of Liberty Hill. I walked all over and didn’t find them. AND THEN… driving home on Pullen Park Rd …. There they were. About 30 have survived.
It’s a lovely grove… almost an Alllee with the redwoods planted on each side of the path and then a few more on the hillock to your left. And they’ve grown! 3- 4 stories tall now!
The Raleigh Garden Club, Inc. is a non-profit philanthropic and educational organization founded in 1925. Our objectives are to:
Study the art of gardening in all its aspects
Aid in the protection and conservation of natural resources
Assist in educating youth through programs and scholarships
Promote the maintenance of gardens and arboretums
Our general meetings are on the first Wednesday of each month in Raleigh, NC at the NC State University Club. We welcome guests and new members from the greater Raleigh area including Apex, Cary, Fuquay-Varina, Garner, Morrisville, Raleigh, Wake Forest, Wendell, and Zebulon.
